PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Spring is in the air, and this is a very exciting time at ASWA with many things happening (besides busy season!) The Nominating Committee will soon be recruiting new Board and Committee members for the upcoming fiscal year (July, 2007-June, 2008). You should be receiving a description of all of the positions, so you can get an idea of the many areas in which you can help. I hope that you can see the great potential for you to be able to shape the future of our chapter. It is a great learning experience and truly rewarding!

On June 1 and 2, the Spokane chapter will be hosting the Northwest Regional Conference at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park in Spokane. I hope many of you will consider attending. This conference is always very educational and fun, and is a good opportunity to meet and network with other accountants from our own region.

By the way, next year, in Spring of 2008, it will be the Bellevue chapter's turn to host this conference. We really need to start working on this right now, since planning an event of this caliber takes a great deal of time and advance preparation. We are currently putting together a committee of people to work specifically on this project. There are many tasks which will need to be accomplished - reserving a venue, scheduling various speakers and topics for the event, planning social events and lunches, recruiting members to work during the event, etc. This project opens up many opportunities, even for people with limited free time.

I'll see you on March 20th for our next dinner meeting.

Your President,

Laura Ohringer, CPA
