PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Happy Holidays to Everyone,

As we move into the New Year, I hope everyone has had a chance to relax and spend time with family and friends over the Holiday Season. For me this is one of my most special times of the year to witness the magic of holiday spirit through the eyes of children, the generosity of giving, and the shear excitement of the season.

At our December monthly meeting, Jeanne Forrey presentation on ‘How to Invest Smart in the Current Market’, truly opened our eyes to the emerging global marketplace and the value of a well balanced portfolio. Thank you also to the generosity of those attendees who brought canned food in support of our food drive and used eye glasses in support of VOSH. We will continue to have a donation box at each of our meetings throughout the year for additional contributions in support of the VOSH foundation.

It is hard to believe that January and Tax Season is right around the corner. Please sign up early for our January 17th TAX UPDATE dinner meeting. Our guest speaker will be the notorious Shawn Gagnon of Weinand & Associates. Seriously, I don’t know anyone that can make tax updates sound so fun! So I suggest you hurry to make your reservation for this event! You won’t want to miss it! CPE credit available.

New and Current ASWA Members are invited to attend the joint Seattle – Bellevue ASWA New Member Tea on Saturday, January 14th, from 11am – 1pm. At the Olympic View Church in Seattle. www.olympicchurch.org. This will be a fun event to learn more about ASWA and have the opportunity to visit with new and current members. Please save the date and watch for the upcoming flyers… we hope to see you there.

Please also save the dates for other ASWA upcoming events:

• The 2012 Bellevue Chapter Scholarship Applications submittal dates and times.
• February 21st Dinner Meeting – on Cloud Computing!
• March 20th will be a joint meeting hosted by IMA.
• April 17th Student Scholarship night!
• The Northwest Regional Conference coming May 18 – 19th, 2012 in Seattle! CPE Credits and Bellevue Chapter members can receive $50 towards conference fee. Watch for upcoming flyers.

This year’s officers and members are committed to continue building on the momentum of the founding ASWA vision as a professional non-profit organization whose mission is to enable women in all fields of accounting to achieve their personal, professional, and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of the profession. I am very excited to have you be part of this year’s ASWA Bellevue Chapter continued success. I wish each and every one of you blessings and holiday cheer with friends and family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
Maureen Volz
Chapter President
