PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello everyone!
Our September meeting was very informative. In these interesting economic times, it was wonderful to get an update from Becky Pendleton Reid, on what is happening in the current stock market and banking industry. I know a few of our members have some job uncertainties, that they are currently going through and I want you to know that you are all in my thoughts and I wish you the best. I feel, as members, we are fortunate to be a part of this large group of professionals that can benefit from each other, whether it be someone looking for a job or someone looking for an employee. Especially, with high unemployment, it is appreciative when we share information about job openings.
October is our student night. Scholarship applications will be available. The recipient winners will be announced at our December meeting. It is rewarding to know our Chapter is giving back to the community.
We are still looking to fill a few positions on this years’ Board and identify members that would be interested in being a Board member next year. Kristina Rusnak is chairing this Nominating Committee. Thank you, Kristina for taking on this very important role. I know everyone is very busy, including myself, but even the small amount of time that you could possibly volunteer for a Board position would be appreciative. On average, the amount of time commitment may be about 5 hours a month.

OCTOBER SPEAKER: Debrena Jackson Gandy
Topic: Being a Next-Level Leader
Debrena Jackson Gandy is an international speaker, business consultant and success coach, national seminar leader, and the national best-selling author of two books: Sacred Pampering Principles and All the Joy You Can Stand. She is the owner of Masterminds, an organizational development consulting firm, and The Afroscentrics Boutique, an online motivational and educational products company.
Ms. Gandy has been a featured contributor to Essence, Heart & Soul, and O magazines and has appeared in Ebony, Upscale, Emerge, Black Enterprise, and Today's Black Woman magazines and the New York Daily News, Chicago Defender, Dallas Morning News, Tampa Tribune, Charlotte News & Observer, Atlanta Metro, and Seattle Times. She has been heard on radio programs across the nation, and has appeared on local and regional TV shows, as well as on C-SPAN, CNN, CNN International, Good Day New York and the Wisdom Channel.
She is a graduate of Pepperdine University and lives here in Seattle with her fabulous husband Joseph, and her three wonderful daughters, ages 15, 14 and 10. Her personal mission is to empower others to create the lives they desire and deserve.
