PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings All,
I trust we all enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day weekend filled with sun, and also took the time to thank the people that have fought for our freedom yesterday and today. This has a busy spring and I recently attended the NW Regional Conference in Bellingham. It was a great opportunity to meet and network with members from other Chapters and to see what an impact that ASWA makes on so many women in the community. I hope that you will all get a chance to attend one of the conferences. We also recently selected and presented the scholarship awards and were fortunately able to provide support for three students this year! This has been a fantastic year serving as President and I've enjoyed the challenges and rewards that come with the role! I want to thank you all for your support and continued membership. I am proud to be a part of such a great organization.

MAY SPEAKER HIGHLIGHTS
Lisa Quast, founder of Career Women, Inc presented at our May Student Night dinner meeting. An energetic and poised speaker, Lisa started out from the bottom up. She wanted to learn everything from operations, customer service, marketing and eventually being the first female Service Vice President, EVP of Strategy Planning and Service Director of 3 companies in a male dominant team. She is now author of “Your Career, Your Way”.
For the students and those seeking employment, she gave valuable tips on what to include and not include in your resumes. Interview preparation is key in making you stand out against others and identify those things you do better than other people. Dress appropriately for the interview and if possible, get an assessment of your assets and liabilities from others.
Creating a personal strategic plan and write down the goals you want to accomplish to improve yourself. Then implementation of the strategic plan is a must. As Lisa said, you alone are accountable for your success or failure….you are your own CEO. Have a strategic plan is like a roadmap and you must review your plan to make any corrective action. Do not procrastinate and you must stay focused. Once your achieve your goals, give yourself encouragement and celebrate along the way.
