PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

What an unbelievable winter this has been in terms of the weather! I am sorry we had to cancel our January meeting, but we wanted to make sure that everyone was safe. Luckily we will be able to have our tax update presentation in February instead of January. It is still timely enough, with plenty of tax season yet ahead of us. Even if we aren't all directly involved in tax return preparation, our colleagues and clients may expect us to keep up to date on the latest changes. Also, our friends and family members may occasionally ask us for advice!

I hope that busy season is off to a good start for all of you, and I wish you much success throughout!

I'll see you on February 20th for our next dinner meeting.

Your President,

Laura Ohringer, CPA

He will explain the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 and the Pension Protection Act of 2006. He will also speak about fringe benefit rules regarding smart cards, Section 409A, inflation adjustments for deductions and exemptions, and the telecom excise tax.

December Dinner Highlights

Sandra Wright, Personal Coach

"Three Habits of Healthy Women"

Sandra had some life altering experiences that helped her make significant changes in her personal and professional life. Over the years, she has successfully transitioned into several different and fulfilling careers, maintained a weight loss of nearly 100 pounds for over 10 years, became financially secure, been married to her best friend for 35 years and raised two remarkable daughters. Sandra focused on the habits of emotionally healthy women. She suggested taking time each month, perhaps on the same day in the month as your birthday, and spend time rejuvenating. She also suggested writing a letter to yourself dated 12 months from now detailing your goals for 2007 as if they already happened. This type of goal setting and actually seeing your accomplishments in print are helpful to completing your goals.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

HAPPY RETIREMENT  TO SANDRA KITTO

Yes, Sandy Kitto retired this past September!  Sandy most recently was a partner with Norman & Kitto, PLLC in Bellevue.

Prior to that, she was a principal with Wick Kitto & Company, PS, Touche Ross (now Deloitte), Melang & Company (now Melang

Hopps & Co).

Sandy received an Associates of Arts Degree from Brevard Community College in Cocoa, FL and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration-University of Washington, She received her CPA designation in 1979 and then received her CFP designation in 1983.

Sandy has been an ASWA member since 1975 as a student member of the Seattle Chapter and held various offices and served on

committees. She was a chartering member of the Bellevue Chapter and served as the Bellevue Chapter President in 1995.  She helped

start the Shoebox Investors Club and the Eastside Tax Roundtable.  The Bellevue Chapter is fortunate to have her as a member and

her leadership skills.   It's no wonder she was awarded Bellevue's Women of Achievement in 1998!

Since her retirement she and her husband, Richard has been on the move visiting Africa and Florida.  Sandy...what's on the travel agenda

after Florida??? Those of us that know Sandy...she always has something going on.

We wish the best for Sandy and Dick and hope to see Sandy from time to time at the meetings in between her travels.
