PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello everyone!

I'm sure you're as delighted as I am that summer finally seems to have arrived here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Our August meeting will be a way to celebrate the season, as well as encourage potential new members to learn more about ASWA and the Bellevue chapter. We will be gathering at the home of Audrey Cheeseman on August 21^st at 5:30 for a potluck dinner and lots of fun activities, as well as an overview of the ASWA. Please contact me at cthienes@hotmail.com for further information; everyone is encouraged to bring a friend or three. It's going to be a very special evening.

Thanks again to the Starbucks corporate team for hosting the Seattle and Bellevue chapters in July. There were about 100 attendees who were on hand to enjoy the buffet, speakers, and of course coffee tasting. What a treat.

In September, the Bellevue chapter will be back at the Coast Bellevue Hotel for our usual monthly meeting. That will take place on September 18^th at 6:00 PM.

July Speaker Highlights

The evening started out with appetizers and social hour at Starbucks Headquarters in Seattle. This was a joint meeting with the Seattle and Bellevue chapters, including some Tacoma chapter members. There were 104 guests in all. Starbucks gave a speech on diversity, the corporate culture and employment opportunities at Starbucks. Dinner was served as Kellis M. Borek from Washington Employers, Inc presented her topic on "Employment Law". She talked about:

Hiring the Right Employee
Cyber Security
Harassment in the Workplace and How to Avoid it
Washington Law Against Disability Discrimination

ANNOUNCEMENTS

There will be no dinner meeting at the Coast Hotel in August. An August Potluck Social Event will be held at Audrey Cheeseman's house on August 21st.
